My full name is Nguyen An Truong; and I was born
in 1940 at Vinh Long (South of Vietnam). Though
I am currently a member of the Photography Association
of Ho Chi Minh City, my background has nothing
to do with photography: I graduated from the University
of Medicine and Pharmacy. I was known in the Pharmacy
faculty at school for my good hand-writing and
drawing skill. And I used to draw my favorite
movie stars’ portraits and keep them as
a personal collection. Since I have had my camera,
I don’t draw much anymore.
I love
to take photos of my family members, friends
and whatever I want to keep as good memories.
I have no formal training in photography. I
have learned from trials and errors. After I
quit my job as a chemist, I enjoy travelling
here and there as a freelance cameraman to shoot
video mail for families with relatives abroad.
Those are opportunities for me to travel around
the country with my video and still cameras
as the fellow companions. My photos reflect
my personal feelings and the demanding artistic
satisfaction in me before the beauties of the
nature and people of my beloved country.
I used to share and enjoy my photos with a
small circle of some close friends and family
members only. With the advantage of the Internet
and web sites, now I'd like to share them with
people all over the world who are interested
in photography, especially photos of Vietnam. |
